WHO THIS IS FOR

1

You've been producing music for a while

2

You can't achieve the sound in your head

3

You have no idea what the missing ingredient is or where to find the solution

4

Your dreams are on hold until you can figure this out... which is demoralizing

IF THIS IS YOU...

YOU'RE IN THE "INTERMEDIATE PLATEAU"

WHY THIS HAPPENS

We're going to make a bold claim:

Everyone has been teaching music production totally wrong — and that's why you're stuck.

Until now, music production has been taught as a singular thing.

But to truly understand the production process, you actually need to break it down into its OBJECTIVE and SUBJECTIVE components...

OBJECTIVE

  • Left-brain
  • Technical
  • Scientific
  • Frequencies
  • Dynamics
  • Volume

SUBJECTIVE

  • Right-brain
  • Creative
  • Artistic
  • Sound design
  • Arrangement
  • Creative mixing

HERE'S WHAT MOST PEOPLE DO...

Most people learn music production in chronological order. This means they start by learning the SUBJECTIVE aspects of music production, like...

- Sound design
- Arrangement
- Producing
- Mixing

...before they even have an awareness of the OBJECTIVE side of music production.

THAT'S KINDA LIKE...

Trying to write a poem in a language you don't understand. Why? Because words are the objective building blocks of poetry.

Attempting to paint like Picasso when you don't know how to hold a paintbrush, mix colors, or chose the right materials.

THIS IS WHAT YOU SHOULD DO INSTEAD...

It’s tempting to jump in your DAW and just start creating...

But you need to master the objective component of music production FIRST if you want to unlock your creative capabilities.

How? By starting with the most objective part of the entire production process: MASTERING.

Once you master the objective, you can move into the subjective process of mixing and producing. But now you're actually capable of creating the sounds you hear in your head.

This is what we call a state of total creative flow — and it means you’re able to seamlessly execute on your creative vision without it getting lost in translation.

BREAKING THROUGH
THE PLATEAU

The problem with the industry
We're so used to focusing on the subjective and disregarding the objective. That’s why so many people are stuck.

Does this affect you?
You know you’re suffering from this problem if you can’t quite achieve the sound you have in your head — despite the fact you’ve been doing this for a while.

The missing piece
You’ve probably watched a ton of YouTube videos and maybe even taken some courses… but you STILL don’t know what’s preventing your mixes from sounding professional.

How to move forward
Simply put, this happens because you don’t have an objective understanding of the end goal in scientific terms - which means you can’t figure out where you’re going wrong.

THE SOLUTION?

Addressing this problem isn’t easy — and it isn’t always exciting. There’s no tips or tricks that will fix this overnight.

You need to commit time to mastering the objective.

The way you do that is by starting with mastering - not producing or mixing.

This idea is at the core of everything we do at Mastering.com — and it's the core idea behind our brand new program...

The Reverse Engineer: Foundations™

" It amazes me how fast this course improves your skill. I still listen to my results with amazement ("I can't believe I did that!"). This is after decades of trying to learn from books and youtube videos, with horrible results. SO GLAD I found this program."

Anthony Ciarochi — Seattle-based songwriter, arranger, keyboardist.

WHAT RESULTS CAN YOU EXPECT?

We know that harnessing the power of the objective works because we’ve already done it with over 2,000 students in our full program.

If you want to hear the results we helped them achieve, watch this short video.

YOU MIGHT BE THINKING...

What if my hearing sucks - will I see results in 3 days?

There are techniques you can use to identify the problems in your mix without having golden ears.

Can't I just learn this stuff from YouTube?

Nobody on YouTube focuses on the objective side of music production. Tips and tricks won't get you any further.

Doesn't it take years to go from good to great?

Yes, if you go it alone and don't get the right guidance. But once you know what to focus on, progress can happen fast.

"Greatness is achieved with this knowledge folks. I've been in the audio industry for over 30 years, and this helps us "old guys/gals" transform our thinking and demystifies the digital world."

YOU GOT QUESTIONS?
WE HAVE ANSWERS.

How do the mentor calls work?

You’ll hop on a Zoom call, and when it’s your turn, you’ll unmute, turn on your video if you can, and have a one to one conversion with the mentor. You can even share your screen and open up your DAW if you need to, and your mentor can do the same.

There will be several weekly mentor calls for the duration of the program, across a range of times to suit all time zones and schedules.

Our mentors are all professional engineers or producers who have been headhunted not only for their natural ability when it comes to audio engineering, but also for being world-class teachers and having the ability to get great results for their students as well as themselves.

How many calls are there each week?

You get access to 11 weekly calls for the 6 month duration. The full schedule is:

How is this different to Mastering Intensive?

The Reverse Engineer Foundations and our Mastering Intensive course are different in a few ways…

First, there’s the curriculum. The Reverse Engineer: Foundations goes much deeper into the field of mastering, for example it explores room acoustics and listening environment in much more depth, advanced mastering processes, and more. In comparison, Mastering Intensive is more about the fundamentals and learning a bulletproof workflow to get started.

Then there’s the mentorship: just six weeks with Mastering Intensive, but six months with The Reverse Engineer Foundations. You’ll have the time to gain a deeper rapport with our pro mentors and show progress over a longer period of time.

And thirdly, there’s the community. As a Mastering Intensive student, you’re working in a dedicated group that is active only for the duration of the Intensive. With The Reverse Engineer: Foundations, you get access to our main community, where folks on the full The Reverse Engineer program come together.

What if I'm far away from reaching a professional standard?

The earlier you are in your journey, and the further your mixes are from a pro standard... the bigger the improvement you're going to see. Equally, if your mix is 90% of the way there, and you've been searching for that last 10% - objective analysis will help you figure out exactly what's missing.

What DAW is this for?

We mostly use Logic Pro, but it doesn't really matter - the techniques you use are the exact same in all DAWs. You'll be able to follow along regardless of which DAW you use.

We have dedicated resources for different DAWs and even have a weekly call for each DAW for users to come together and get help with the specifics of their software.

What type of person is this for?

- Self-recording artists and producers stuck at the “intermediate plateau” who are no longer getting results by searching YouTube for tips and tricks.

- Beginner-level artists and producers who are looking to supercharge their education and tackle some advanced concepts with the help of our team.

- Anyone who has a clear sound in their head that they are unable to translate to their speakers.

When does the program start?

There is no set start and end date. Your 6 months of calls will start when you enroll. If you want to delay your start date for any reason, you can mention this in your onboarding call.

How much time do I need?

This program is self-paced and designed to work around any schedule. It's totally up to you when you login to work through the curriculum, whether it's on your lunch break, in the evening, weekends... whenever, wherever you like.

As long as you commit a few hours a week to the program, you'll have plenty of time to finish before your 6 months of mentorship ends.

The mentor calls cover a range of time zones so you can attend the ones that work for you. You can also submit music for feedback ahead of time and watch the replay if you can't make it live.

Do you provide practice material?

Yes, practice material is provided for each assignment. For some assignments, you can also work on your own music if you prefer.

What level is this for?

There’s no single answer for that, but The Reverse Engineer Foundations is perfect if you’re:

- An intermediate stuck at that “almost there” stage
- A motivated beginner who’s willing to put in extra effort to leapfrog years of bad habits
- A self-producing artist who wants control over their own sound
- An experienced producer or engineer who knows their ears and room could be sharper
- A working professional who wants to offer mastering as a service

Can't I just figure this out on my own?

How has that worked for you so far? Sure, you could learn eventually this stuff through repetition and practice... but it's going to take you decades to get to the same point as everyone else. Instead of reinventing the wheel, it's much quicker to learn from somebody else's experience and mistakes.

Is this for a specific genre or type of music?

No, what you're going to learn is totally agnostic to the genre of music.

Remember, it's mastery over the SCIENTIFIC aspect of music production that comes first. Once you do that, you have the building blocks for any genre or type of music.

Am I going to need a bunch of expensive software/plugins to see results?

No. Better gear will certainly help BUT the first step is developing your knowledge and skills.

Only after that should you think about upgrading your gear. That way, you're using it to it's full potential, instead of having a bunch of expensive gear you don't actually know how to use.

My room isn't acoustically treated, does that matter?

Having a good room will certainly help you identify what's wrong with your mix. That's why room tuning is a major part of the program.

But just like training your ears, there are stages to this process. You don't need a perfect room to significantly improve your mixes. You should continue to improve the quality of your work while gaining new knowledge IN TANDEM with improving on your room over the long-term. Otherwise, you'll get stuck on your room and won't make any progress until you have the "perfect" setup... which we both know doesn't really exist.

What payment options are available?

Until midnight ET on Black Friday, the price is reduced 50% from $2,800 to $1,400.

Click the "Enroll Now" button to pay via Stripe, which supports debit or credit card payment, Link Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay and more. If you're in the US, you might also see the option to pay in instalments using services like Klarna and Affirm.

You will also see a PayPal link below the "Enroll Now" button if you prefer to use PayPal.

We also have the option to split the payments over 6 months at $250 per month. This means you pay $100 extra compared to paying in full. The payments will come out of the same card each month, on the same date of the month, and automatically stop after 6 payments. You will see a link under the "Enroll Now" button to pay over 6 months.
